NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man and woman were arrested for allegedly possessing approximately 10 pounds of high-grade marijuana.
Louro Gonzalez, the driver of an Oldsmobile Alero, was stopped by a Metro police officer for reportedly following too closely on Interstate 40 East near Bellevue.
During the stop, police say Gonzalez and his passenger Monique Rivera, both from Long Beach, California, appeared to be extremely nervous. Gonzalez did not have a valid driver’s license and refused permission to have his vehicle searched.
According to a press release, police dog Stryker alerted the officer of a narcotic odor. During a search of the car, 10 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value between $30,000 to $50,000, was seized. The marijuana was found in two hidden compartments in the rear of the vehicle.
Metro police say Gonzalez stated they were traveling from California to Nashville.
Both are both charged with possessing marijuana for resale. They were booked into the Metro jail with a bond set at $50,000 each.
