NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Saturday was a star-studded night in Hillsboro Village.
The Belcourt theater hosted the Nashville premiere of the major motion picture “I Saw the Light.”
British actor Tom Hiddleston, from movies like “Thor” and “The Avengers” plays country legend Hank Williams in the last six years of his life.
Even though the film wasn’t shot here, both of its stars came to Nashville to prepare for their roles.
“We shot the film in Shreveport and I came here six weeks ahead of principal photography to stay with Rodney Crowell who is the executive musical director and I just immersed myself in music,” said Hiddleston, who did all his own singing in the movie.
Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Audrey Williams, thanks the Country Music Hall of Fame for showing her a bit more about her character.
“I was so grateful to them, to let me into the archives of things they’ve never shown before. They have a lot of Hank Williams and Audrey’s things and photos,” she said.
Cherry Jones plays Hank Williams’ mother in the film, and is a native of Paris, Tennessee.
“I Saw the Light” opens all across the country next March.
