MT.JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people were killed in a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West in Wilson County early Saturday morning.

Now the family of 18-year-old Marcus Strain, one of the victims, is trying to piece together this tragedy.

The Springfield man was involved in a crash and  when he got out of his vehicle to check on the other car’s occupants, he was hit and killed by a third vehicle.

He graduated from Springfield High School last year.

Three of the other people involved in the crash were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A passenger in the third vehicle, 58-year-old Beverly Merryman, died Sunday morning at TriStar Ashland City Medical Center.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor but it had rained around the time of the crash.
