NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A cab driver was arrested Friday night in Nashville after reportedly driving under influence and almost hitting another vehicle.
According to an affidavit, a woman flagged down an officer and reported that the taxi had almost hit her on Murfreesboro Road.
An officer was able to catch up to the driver and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the report states that the taxi wouldn’t stop and kept going.
The driver eventually stopped when he ran into a fence.
The officer said he noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Samuel Huggins when he got out of the car and that he failed field sobriety tests.
At one point, Huggins even told the officer that he was, ‘too drunk to do this,’ referring to the sobriety tests.
Court records show Huggins, 31, was found guilty of two DUI charges in Davidson County 2014.
He was taken into and charged with his third DUI, evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.
His bond was set at $55,000.
