NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The sixth weekend of Fast Fix 8, the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s on-going bridge replacement program, was held over the weekend.
A section of Interstate 40 in the downtown loop was closed from 8 p.m. Friday night until 6 a.m. Monday. Construction crews focused their efforts on the bridge near Clinton Street.
The closure was from the 40/65 split west of downtown to the 40/65 split south of downtown. It was also the first time the closure was in place during a regular season Titans game. They played the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Noon.
There was also a Predators game at Bridgestone Arena and Oktoberfest being held in Germantown.
“It’s an expedited project so we’re dealing with a very tightened time schedule,” said Heather Jensen with TDOT.
“We’re also dealing with mother nature. In November and December it’s going to wetter and colder and we can’t do the things we need to do.”
Titans fans were able to take the Second Avenue exit off Interstate 40 from the south side or Rosa Parks Boulevard off Interstate 65 from the north.
