SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Two children, both under two are dead, and their mother is behind bars after police say she admitted to killing them.
Authorities responded to a home on West 59th street in Savannah, Georgia, about 12:30 Tuesday afternoon after a woman called 911 saying she drowned her two girls.
Officers got to the home, found the girls ages 8 and 18 months, and began CPR. The two children were transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.
The mother, 26-year-old Jokeera Morgan, was taken to police headquarters for questioning.
She’s now been charged with two counts of murder.
Morgan has two other children who weren’t present at the time of the incident.
A man who we have been told was the girl’s father arrived at the scene while WSAV-TV was there. He was taken away in a police car.
The investigation is ongoing and being supported by the Division of Family and Children Services and the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office.
