NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The victim attacked on Demonbreun Street Saturday night with a well-known music producer hopes someone can help find the suspects.
Deborah DeLoach told News 2 she was celebrating her birthday with some friends when the attack happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
“We were walking across the street to go to Dan McGuinness,” DeLoach explained.
That’s when the driver of a grey or charcoal four door infinity bumped her leg.
“It was aggressive from the beginning,” she added.
According to DeLoach, the driver continued to hit her leg with his car.
“What transpired after that was extremely violent,” she said.
DeLoach says the driver put the car in park and the two people inside, a male and a female both dressed in nice evening attire, got out and attacked her and her friend, music producer Dave Brainard.
“The man attacked Dave and the female attacked me,” she explained.
DeLoach told News 2 the woman came at her quickly, shoving her to the ground.
“She put me to the ground and was on top of me pulling my hair, kind of wrestling me,” she elaborated.
DeLoach said that while that was going on, the male driver punched Brainard and placed him in a choke hold until he passed out. Then the man attacked DeLoath, putting his knee on her throat.
“And was trying to asphyxiate me. I don’t know how long that happened, but it was long enough that I was fearing for my life and at that point I prayed, ‘Lord, please help me. Don’t let me die.’”
DeLoach believes God heard her prayers at that point. She says the man turned to the female he was with and called her “Nikki” before they drove away.
She was left with some cuts and bruises, while Brainard has undergone surgery and now has his mouth wired shut.
Doctors expect it to be wired for six to eight weeks, but DeLoach said he is still in good spirits and left the hospital Thursday evening.
She also said neither she nor Brainard know the suspects but she’s confident someone had to see the attack happen.
