Hatchet-wielding man at Antioch theater was shot 24 times by Metro police

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Autopsy results for the man who attacked movie goers in Antioch this past August show Metro police shot him 24 times.

Vincente Montano, 29, was killed by officers  on Aug. 5 after attacking a family of three with pepper spray and a hatchet inside the theater during a matinee showing of “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

SWAT officers fired about 60 shots inside the dark Carmike Hickory 8 theater before Montano exited the building in a threatening manner, according to authorities.

Officers waiting outside in the parking lot shot about 40 additional rounds.

Authorities said Montano suffered 22 gunshot wounds, one shotgun wound, and one rifle wound. The report stated that he also suffered multiple cuts to the chin, back, left arm and left side of the mouth.

All three people injured in the attack were treated at the scene. Four other people in the theater at the time escaped uninjured.
