NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday for Preston Claybrooks Jr., and Alexandra Grubbs, a couple found murdered over the weekend in east Nashville.

It began at 6:35 p.m. at the Howe Garden Apartments where the murders took place.

Brandon Griswold, 20, and his girlfriend Whitney Gray, 21, are facing charges of criminal homicide in the couple’s deaths.

Claybrooks and Grubbs were found dead in closet inside unit A-3 at around 2 a.m. Sunday by Metro police.

The murder was extremely violent and brutal, authorities reported.

Police believe the motive behind the crime was a lingering dispute between the two couples involving the use of heroin.

Grubbs and Claybrooks leave behind two children who were staying with family while they were staying inside the east Nashville apartment.
