RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Twenty-one students in Rutherford County are now published authors and spent Tuesday signing autographs at Barnes and Noble.
The students wrote and illustrated a book called “Stop! Look! Listen! How Do Elephants Stay Safe at School.”
The 18-page book is meant to help calm students’ fears during emergencies like weather drills and lockdowns.
“We basically just told them you don’t worry about what the drill or the danger may be, just stop, look, and listen to your teacher and they are always going to get you through the situation,” said Sgt. Bill West with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
The book also includes a song set to the Jingle Bells tune. It’s available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble bookstores.
The students were fifth graders at Brown’s Chapel Elementary School when they wrote the book but are now attending other schools.
