Police use Taser on man accused of choking girlfriend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police used a Taser on a man accused of choking his girlfriend early Monday morning.

Authorities were called to the 1200 block of Edgehill Avenue around 4:20 a.m. due to a domestic disturbance.

Upon their arrival, responding officers located the victim standing outside of a parked car.

The victim told police that Corey Johnson allegedly became angry with her after she refused to buy him more beer and because she threw out some potato skins.

The victim stated the argument became physical and Johnson reportedly grabbed her by the throat and began choking her.

A responding officer reported they witnessed Johnson walk toward the woman and grab her before fleeing on foot.

The two officers chased the man on foot before activating their Taser.

The victim refused medical treatment, according to a police affidavit. She also stated that she and Johnson had been dating for a few months and that she believes that she is around 6 weeks pregnant with his child.

Johnson is charged with aggravated assault among other charges.
