NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 35-year-old man was charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend in Antioch Monday morning.
Marcus Lewis reportedly admitted to killing Samantha Crumpton but told police he thought he was confronting an intruder at their Waterford Crossing apartment.
Lewis claimed he was in a bedroom when he heard a noise before arming himself to investigate. He told authorities he fired a single shot when “a figure” came from the kitchen area.
The victim was his 36-year-old girlfriend, who died shortly after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Lewis was taken into custody for questioning and later charged with criminal homicide. He was booked into the Metro jail.
During the investigation, police learned Crumpton had dropped her teenage daughter off at school before returning home that morning. She leaves behind two children, ages 14 and 17.
