NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A loaded gun was discovered at the Nashville International Airport on Sunday morning bringing the total number of firearms found at the airport up to 48 for 2015.
The loaded Kel-Tec P-3AT handgun was discovered in a passenger’s carry-on bag around 9 a.m. by the Transportation Security Administration.
The passenger was escorted out of the checkpoint by police, who took possession of the bag.
Fliers are reminded guns can be transported in checked baggage if they are declared to the airline, in a proper case and are unloaded.
“Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the checkpoint,” said Mark Howell, TSA Regional Spokesperson. “Our advice is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.”
In 2014, a total of 48 guns were discovered throughout the whole year.
