NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A News 2 photojournalist witnessed two people being robbed at gunpoint outside Vanderbilt University Medical Center early Friday morning.

The News 2 photographer was at the hospital around 4 a.m. reporting on victims who were injured in a shooting at a north Nashville nightclub.

The photographer was sending video back to the newsroom when he saw a pickup truck pull up to a Ford Mustang that was parked in front of the hospital.

The suspects pulled out a gun and robbed two people who were inside the Mustang, one of which is a Vanderbilt orthopedic nurse who was on her lunch break.

The News 2 photographer called 911 and officers responded quickly as they were on the property investigating a vehicle from the earlier shooting.

He gave a statement to police before moving on to report for News 2 This Morning.
