CDC: 1 in 10 women drink alcohol while pregnant

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – According to a new study, one in 10 pregnant women in the U.S. admit to drinking alcohol. One-third of those women also binge drink.

The numbers are from a Centers for Disease Control survey taken from 2011 to 2013. The study defined binge drinking as consuming four or more drinks on one occasion.

According the study, pregnant woman reported a higher frequency of binge women than women who were not pregnant.

The CDC surveyed more than 200,000 women which included 8,000 women who were pregnant.

The CDC says there is no known safe amount of alcohol to drink during pregnancy.
