NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville Predators scored three first period goals on their way to a 5-2 wins in preseason action Wednesday night at Bridgestone Arena.
It was the Predators second win in 24 hours over last season’s Eastern Conference champions. Defenseman Roman Josi was pleased with the fast start, “I thought we played well. We had a lot of chances. A lot of speed and we got a lot of pucks to the net. We didn’t play as well in the second period. We let them play in our end a little bit too much but, overall it was a good game and a good win for us.”
James Neal started the scoring on a pass from Roman Josi in front of the net.
Moments later the Predators made it 2-0 on a power play goal from Captain Shea Weber who made his preseason debut.
Mike Ribeiro fed Weber for a slapshot just off of the right circle.Craig Smith closed out the scoring in the first when Josi sent a puck from behind the net all the way to the blue line. Smith blew it past Adam Wilcox for a 3-0 Nashville lead.
Smith started the scoring four minutes into the 2nd period, his second goal made it 4-0.
Colton Sissons added a goal in the third.
Pekka Rinne started in goal for Nashville and played all 60 minutes and stopped 30 of 32 shots.
