NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) –Mayor Karl Dean helped dedicate a new gym at Nashville’s oldest school on his last full day as mayor.
The new gymnasium at Hume-Fogg Magnet High School in downtown Nashville has been a long time coming. The new structure was built behind the existing school.
The school has not had a gym that was large enough for athletic events and has not been able to host a true home game for basketball, volleyball and other sports for many decades.
Now Metro Schools’ planning and construction staff is gearing up for the next stage of the school’s revitalization.
The $20 million renovation will bring the rest of the school into the “modern age” with larger class spaces, integrated technology and updated major systems.
