NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Nashville Mayor Karl Dean met with Metro police for the final time on Thursday.
Dean delivered his final remarks to officers on his last full day as mayor at 2:30 p.m.
“It has been a great honor to serve as mayor. Nothing has made me prouder than this department,” he said. “I wanted to take this time on my last full day in office just to say thank you, that I appreciated it and that comes from the bottom of my heart. I really do appreciate it.”
Dean was elected mayor in 2007.
Mayor-elect Megan Barry will take office on Friday.
