NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 22-year-old woman is charged with DUI after police say she drove through a closed portion of the Fast Fix 8 Project on Interstate 40 Sunday.
According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Katherine Caire was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of the roadway and narrowly avoided crossing the westbound bridge over Herman Street.
A police affidavit stated officers discovered skid marks where Caire had reportedly braked in an effort to avoid hitting a construction vehicle.
Upon approaching Caire, the responding officer noted an “obvious odor of intoxicant,” and that the woman had red, watery eyes and slurred speech.
She was taken into police custody after performing poorly on a field sobriety test.
Caire is charged with DUI.
