NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A father was arrested Monday after a naked toddler was found wandering around the Hermitage area of Nashville.
Metro police confirmed to News 2 a driver for Nashville Electric Service spotted the child around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Rachels View and Andrew Jackson Parkway.
According to an affidavit, witnesses held onto boy and brought him a diaper, shirt, juice boxes and crackers. He reportedly drank several juice boxes, indicating he was hot and dehydrated. The 2-year-old child was checked out by authorities and deemed to be okay, but his feet were badly scratched from the hot asphalt.
Middle school children got off a nearby school bus and were able to identify the boy and where he lived.
The boy’s father, Steven Dodd, told police the child was his, but that he was scared of him because he was ‘God,’ the report stated. Dodd, 41, added that the boy always takes his clothes off, does whatever he wants and that he can’t control him.
In addition, Dodd reportedly stated that he had just smoked marijuana. He was charged with aggravated child neglect and his bond was set at $100,000.
Commander David Imhof of Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s East Precinct indicated that the Department of Children’s Services is involved, while an affidavit states the child is now in the custody of his mother.
