NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Dr. H. James Williams, the president of Fisk University, has announced his resignation.
“We have accepted Dr. Williams’ resignation and thank him for his part in the advancements of Fisk in recent years,” said Barbara Landers Bowles, Chairperson of the Board.
During his time at Fisk, Williams helped improve the school’s retention rate and has seen a 40 percent increase in enrollment.
Dr. Williams said he is pursuing other opportunities in higher education.
Frank Sims has been named interim president.
