NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was shot in the head and killed Sunday night behind a library near Tennessee State University.
Police told News 2 the victim was sitting in his car with his girlfriend behind Hadley Park Library on 28th Avenue North around 8:15 p.m. when two gunmen approached the car from behind.
Police said one of the suspects ordered the victim, identified as Eric Jackson, to open his car door.
Jackson, 21, attempted to drive away, but police said his vehicle got caught on a utility police guide wire.
At least one of the suspects opened fire, striking Jackson in the head. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Witnesses told officers that two people were involved in the shooting, and both were armed.
They reportedly ran away from the scene on foot toward Interstate 40.
Police have focused part of their investigation on a red Mustang at the scene.
The suspects’ descriptions were not immediately released.
