NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police said Monday a convicted murderer is now accused in the “brutal” stabbing death of his girlfriend.

Porscha Clark was found dead inside her Trinity Hills Village complex on East Nocturne Drive Sunday night.

Her two young children, a 4-year-old girl and 10-month-old son, were seen walking by themselves through the apartments. Two neighbors took them back home where they discovered Clark had been attacked. Police previously believed her wounds were gunshots.

Her boyfriend, 43-year-old Samuel Copeland, was arrested later that night after he reportedly crashed Clark’s car and fled on foot in Warren County. He was captured by a state trooper Monday morning and ultimately connected to Clark’s death.

Metro police said Clark swore out a misdemeanor domestic assault warrant against Copeland earlier this month, saying he punched her in the back of the head and face after refusing to give him a ride home.

Copeland fled before officers arrived that night. The warrant for domestic assault was still outstanding at the time of Clark’s death.

He was convicted of second-degree murder in June 1993 and received a 25-year prison sentence. He was also convicted of robbery in August 1993 and received a 6-year sentence.

In addition, Copeland was arrested in 2007 for a parole violation and registered as an ex-con in August 2012.

The 43-year-old was later arrested in October 2013 for misdemeanor domestic assault against his 36-year-old girlfriend at the time. The case was retired in court the following month.
