CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Montgomery Sheriff’s Office corporal was arrested Thursday on drug charges.

Clarksville Now reported Michael King was taken into custody for possession of over 24 grams of marijuana and 120 dihydrocodeine pills.

He was placed on administrative leave mid-January after the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint stemming from alleged “criminal actions” that occurred last year.

King was terminated in February following an indictment on charges of statutory rape.

Sheriff John Fuson’s officials issued the following statement:

“It is our duty and responsibility to uphold the law, regardless of who breaks it.”

King has since bonded out of jail.
