NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was held at gunpoint by a watchful neighbor in Hermitage on Friday.
Metro police said the neighbor saw a strange pickup truck pull next door and start to steal a utility trailer on Netherlands Drive.
The neighbor then drove his own pickup truck to the home, blocking the alleged thieves’ path. One of the suspects, identified as Marty Harris, was held at gunpoint.
Police said two others, a man and woman, got away.
At one point, the man who ran began coming back with his hands around his waist. That’s when the neighbor fired a warning shot into the air, causing the man to continue running.
Metro police say they responded within minutes and arrested Harris, 40, who reportedly admitted he and his accomplices were going to steal and sell the utility trailer to support their heroin habit.
Harris is jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond on charges of felony attempted theft and misdemeanor vandalism.
