NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Associated General Contractors of America has released new data from a nationwide survey showing the shortage of construction workers in Tennessee.
Construction in the Metro area has created 3,700 new construction jobs over the past year alone, but many firms say they’re having a hard time finding qualified workers.
In Tennessee, 36 percent claim it’s difficult to find qualified project supervisors and engineers.
The AGC’s local chapter says a comprehensive statewide program to increase and attract young people into the construction industry in Tennessee could help.
According to the report, the hardest craft workers to find include bricklayers, cement masons and roofers.
