HICKMAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Hickman County sheriff’s deputy broke the window of a car to rescue a 2-year-old boy who was accidentally locked inside.
A woman called 911 Tuesday after her nephew was accidentally locked in the car outside her home in the Bon Aqua area of Hickman County.
Her keys and phone were also in the locked car with the child.
The woman ran to a neighbor’s house to borrow a phone and called 911.
The responding deputy saw the child sweating heavily, so he broke out a rear window with a wrench.
The boy was medically cleared and was not harmed in the incident.
Police say if you see a child locked in a hot car, call 911 and break the window if needed.
Tennessee has laws that protect good Samaritans who break car windows to rescue kids and animals locked inside.
