NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are searching for three armed men who robbed and kidnapped a family of four from their Crieve Hall home late Thursday night.
It happened at a home on the 5300 block of Trousdale Drive in Crieve Hall around 10:45 p.m.
“It was just horrifying,” said Jina Kochevar, the 51-year-old homeowner, who is still trembling.
She told News 2 she believes the robbers followed her 72-year-old grandmother home from the grocery store.
When she got home, Kochevar along with her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend, both 26, went outside to help bring the groceries in.
That’s when the suspects went inside her home through the unlocked front door, two of them holding the victims at gunpoint while they ransacked the house.
“They were like, ‘Everyone just stay calm. Nobody make any sudden moves and this will go smooth,’” Kochevar recalled.
She said they went to the back of the house and ransacked all the bedrooms, carrying white towels with them and wiping things as they went along.
Jewelry, phones, and other small items were stolen before the victims were forced to drive in two of their own cars to two nearby ATMs to withdraw cash. Two victims and one gunman were inside each car while the third suspect drove their black Nissan Murano.
“One of the younger ones, when I got in the car, bent down to me and said, ‘I’m so sorry. I don’t know how I got roped into this,’” Kochevar explained.
She said the suspect then warned her about the “main guy,” saying “do what he wants because he will shoot you.”
First they went to the Regions Bank in Nippers Corner and then the Bank of America on Franklin Pike in Brentwood. The gunman forced them to withdraw cash at both locations.
“I’m just praying to God they don’t hurt my mom or my daughter,” Kochevar recalled.
They then drove to the Target on Old Hickory Boulevard where the gunman got out of the victims’ cars before fleeing in their own.
The victims were able to borrow a phone from a bystander in the parking lot and call police at 10:44 p.m.
The three suspects were described as:
- Black male in his mid 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, a fade haircut into small dreads on top with a chin-strap beard
- Light-skinned black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, no facial hair, wearing all-black clothing and a red and black hat
- Bald black male, young with a thin fuzz-looking mustache, 5 feet 5 inches tall, carrying a black handgun
When asked if she could say anything to the men, Kochevar replied, “Shame on you. Get a job. Make money like we do.”
Police say it is unclear if the suspects followed the woman home from the grocery store.
Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
