WASHINGTON (WKRN/ABC) – In an interview with Breitbart, presidential candidate Donald Trump said Jeb Bush should speak English while in the United States.
ABC news confirmed the report when Trump said, “he should set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”
Trump has been scrutinized recently because of controversial comments about immigrants from Mexico. An ABC poll says that 82 percent of Hispanics have an unfavorable view of Trump.
Trump’s comments came after Bush’s speech at a town hall in Miami. Bush used both English and Spanish when he took questions from the media about his thoughts on Trump.
Bush lived in Mexico and Venezuela as a young adult, his wife was born in Mexico and he speaks fluent Spanish.
“I mean, this is not a guy who is a conservative and using his own words is not a mischaracterization, it came out of his own mouth,” Bush said in Spanish.
Trump dismissed Bush earlier this week as “yet another weak hit by a candidate with a failing campaign.”
