NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville mayor and fire chief celebrated a new fire station in Green Hills on Thursday.
Station 20 is located at 1630 Harding Place and replaces the aging one that sat on Richard Jones Road.
The old station was built in 1963 and became very outdated as well as costly to maintain.
The new station on Harding will house an engine, ambulance and brush truck all while having room to grow in the future.
The city said Thursday the new station is expected to improve response times, particularly to the Forest Hills area, without sacrificing coverage to the station’s northern area, which overlaps with two other stations.
The $4.5 million project was built on land already owned by Metro Water Services.
Construction is nearing completion and the facility will be fully operational in the next couple of weeks.
