NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — We’ve all heard of creature comfort and comfort foods, but what if you took a bowl and mixed up the two?
When you first step into Chocolate F/X, you immediately feel like something is different.
“It all came from my love of monsters, science fiction, tattoo culture, hot rod culture growing up,” said owner Andrea Smith.
She makes dreamy chocolates that look like nightmares.
“It was kind of a really fun way for me to express my art and a lot of the things, you know, the culture that I love,” she said.
Andrea started out as a special effects artist, going to school to learn mold making, sculpture and airbrush work.
She discovered her talents transferred seamlessly to chocolate creations.
“Taking an FDA approved silicone, where I can use food product in it, and making a mold of that piece and actually air brush it with colored coca butter instead of the latex paint,” she described.
Her designs are as unique as they are tasty.
“There’s always something fun and surprising. I don’t think you can ever be completely prepared,” said chocolate lover and shopper Janet Lee.
And with choices like “ghost pepper caramel,” how can anyone resist?
Smith says she also makes more traditional chocolate creations, but she seems to have more fun with her “unique” creations.
