NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – News 2 has learned that less than 24 hours before Ezell Graham was caught by three good Samaritans after allegedly stealing a purse, he broke into a Nashville couple’s home.

Monday night, Cameron Jones was standing in her kitchen when she says she saw a strange man walk up to her front door.

“I just prayed we knew who he was,” she told News 2. But she didn’t.

She says 31-year-old Graham opened the door and demanded she keep quiet. With her two young children in bed and her husband in a back bedroom, she couldn’t help but scream.

“It’s pretty terrifying to hear that scream,” said her husband Paul. ”And to know that someone is in the house and it’s not good.”

Paul Jones told News 2 he was able to chase Graham out of the home but not before he took an iPad.

According to online court records, Graham was released from jail two weeks ago after serving time for an assault charge. He has been convicted of fourteen crimes, mostly for robbery.

The Jones’ knew Graham was finally been arrested Tuesday, but they had no idea there was video leading up to that arrest.

After the couple watched it, they said the video evoked something they didn’t expect: compassion for the man who they say terrorized them.

“I thought I was going to feel a sense of justice, but I just feel really sorry for him,” said Cameron Jones.

“In the moment we were filled with rage,” said Paul Jones. “But when you see the reality of the situation, it’s just sad.”

Metro police say Graham is a serial robber and will face a slew of charges Aug. 20.
