Clerk shot in leg during robbery at west Nashville gas station

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two male suspects robbed a gas station in west Nashville and shot the gas station clerk in the leg Sunday morning.

It happened at the Exxon station, located at 6955 Charlotte Pike, around 1:30 a.m.

According to Metro Police, the suspects entered the store, demanded money and keys to the safe.

When the female clerk told the suspects she did not have keys to the safe they then took money and cigarettes.

At some point during the robbery they shot the clerk in the leg. She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A police captain on scene said the suspects were two black males, wearing black masks which covered their mouths and noses, between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 6 feet tall. At least one was wearing a black jacket.

Police are reviewing surveillance video for more information about the suspects.

No other information was immediately released.
