SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) – Spring Hill police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of an accident that ultimately claimed the life of one person.
It happened on Interstate 65 South just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Witnesses told police that a white crossover type vehicle stopped in the left lane of I-65 to turn into an emergency median turnaround.
Due to the driver’s brisk actions, motorists behind him were forced to slam on their brakes, causing a three-vehicle accident which included a tractor-trailer.
The male driver of the white vehicle fled the scene.
Upon their arrival, police said all involved parties were out of their vehicles, walking around and speaking with each other.
The driver of the second vehicle, which was struck twice, told responding officers he was experiencing back pain.
He was transported to Williamson Medical Center before being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he later died from his injuries sustained in the accident.
His identity has not been released.
The driver of the crossover vehicle is believed to be in his 50s or 60s. He has dark hair and was wearing large glasses at the time of the accident.
