Man wounded in north Nashville stabbing dies from injuries

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was killed when he was stabbed during an altercation in north Nashville Thursday morning.

Police reported Arthur Miller, 51, got into a fight with the victim 53-year-old James Mitchell and slashed him across his face and torso.

Mitchell reportedly knocked on the door of a Ninth Avenue North residence after the stabbing to ask for help.

Once police responded, Mitchell said he had been stabbed by “Arthur.”

Officers found and followed a trail of blood that led them to the scene of the stabbing at the rear of 15th Avenue Baptist Church.

A witness reportedly told police he saw the fight and stabbing take place between the two men.

Mitchell was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

Miller was booked into the Metro jail and charged with criminal homicide.

He is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.

Police said both men involved in the incident are homeless.
