Kentucky teen dies after football equipment falls during practice

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) – A 17-year-old Hopkinsville High School student died Thursday after a piece of heavy football equipment fell.

Jayvon Quarles, who used the last name Jordan, was at football practice at Hopkinsville Middle School Thursday afternoon. He was helping move a large piece of equipment when it fell and hit his head.

He suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical center by ambulance where he later died.

Police say no one is at fault in the accident.

A spokesperson for Christian County schools said Jayvon was a joy to be around and will be deeply missed.

Jayvon was going into his senior year at Hopkinsville High.
