NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A group of Montgomery Bell Academy (MBA) students made a video that is generating a lot of buzz on social media.
The video shows the group playing Frisbee with Defiance Flyboard professionals. As of Monday night, it had over 780,000 views on Facebook.
In the amazing video, the students toss a Frisbee from the Pedestrian Bridge to the professionals who are in the Cumberland River and catch it.
They use a hose hooked to a jet ski to power the boards. The jet ski acts as a mobile pump, shooting water into the board and allowing it to “fly.”
“All the water you get from the jet ski is coming straight to your feet,” said Cody Gardner with Defiance Flyboard. “It just picks you right up out of the water and you just fly around.”
Gardner said the company typically operates from lakes in Middle Tennessee, but they decided to try the Cumberland River for the video shoot.
“We thought it would be a good addition to the video to have Nashville in the background and represent for our city,” he explained.
The flyboard combined with a Frisbee is apparently a recipe for attention. Not only did the video blow up on social media, it also was on national television.

“It was on SportsCenter and that was crazy; and my whole family was watching it, so to see that video and be a part of it was just incredible,” said Watson Dill, an MBA sophomore.
His friend McClain Portis, also a sophomore, came up with the idea.
“It’s kind of something we can do for fun to just get out there and stay off the video games I guess,” said Portis.
He said he came up with the idea while sitting on his couch and looking through Instagram. He found Defiance Flyboard and emailed them.
“I think the goal was just to do something nobody else has done,” said Kris Bagley with Defiance Flyboard.
The students said they will continue to make more YouTube videos throughout the school year.
