Former substitute fails to report husband for child sex abuse

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Murfreesboro substitute teacher has been arrested after she didn’t report that her husband had sexually assaulted a teen girl.

According to a police report, the incident allegedly occurred when the 13-year-old spent the night at Virginia and Craig McCord’s Cardinal Street home.

The victim reported to police that she woke up in the middle of the night to Craig McCord touching her inappropriately.

The victim said she called her grandfather to come pick her up and told Virginia McCord about the incident.

During the course of their investigation, police discovered that Craig McCord is a registered sex offender.

He was arrested and is charged with sexual battery by an authority figure. Craig McCord is jailed on a $100,000 bond.

His wife Virginia is also charged since she failed to report the incident to police or the Department of Children’s Services.

She is charged with failure to report child sex abuse and is jailed on a $10,000 bond.
