NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An estimated 50,000 people flocked to east Nashville this weekend for the 12th annual Tomato Art Fest.
Tomatoes of all sizes and colors were represented in the Five Points area as attendees celebrated the much-beloved fruit.
The festival kicked off Friday night with a free concert. On Saturday, the festival began with a parade featuring children riding bikes dressed up as life-sized tomatoes.
Contests were held for the ugliest tomato, tiniest tomato, various costume categories and best bloody mary.
Now in its 12th year, the festival is consistently named by travel magazines as among the best in the nation.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms.
