(MEDIA GENERAL) – One New Zealand dad is getting international kudos for his heartwarming tattoo.

Alistair Campbell’s 6-year-old daughter, Charlotte, wears two cochlear implants to help her hear. Now, her dad has one, too.

Campbell told BuzzFeed he got the tattoo after Charlotte received her second cochlear implant as a way to support her. He said the tattoo took approximately 45 minutes, and “a little bit of pain, but nothing I couldn’t handle.”

Said Campbell: “The reaction has been overwhelming, mostly positive. Some negative comments have surfaced, but they don’t bother me. We’re doing what is best for our daughter and our family.”

Perhaps more importantly than the Internet’s collective opinion, Charlotte thinks the tattoo is “cool.”
