NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A program that gives bikes to children in a poor neighborhood gave away school supplies in Edgehill Saturday.
The Edgehill Bike Club handed out backpacks, clothes, school supplies and bicycles at their back-to-school event.
Club leaders also held a class on entrepreneurship.
Terry Key told News 2 he is dedicated to filling the need he saw to give children in the neighborhood a healthy, positive activity.
“I saw a need for these kids and what’s going on out here, to have something to do. So I gave these kids these bikes. Then I started to see them play with each other,” said Key.
“From that we try to teach them even more, leadership skills, entrepreneur skills. We’re just trying to keep them out of trouble and do something positive in this neighborhood.”
The kids went on a group bike ride after receiving their bicycles.
More than 500 bikes were given away.
