Police discover drugs at Nashville market accused of selling counterfeit goods

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police discovered illegal drugs at a market in northern Nashville while they were at the business executing a search warrant for an unrelated issue.

It happened at the AA Mart at 2700 Whites Creek Pike late Thursday morning.

While at the store, which was allegedly selling counterfeit sports hats and sunglasses, officers on the scene told News 2 they discovered the narcotic khat, which is a stimulant that causes excitement and euphoria.

Police will need a secondary search warrant to remove the illegal drug from the business.

During Thursday’s raid, police seized more than 150 hats and a large amount of change.

Authorities said that undercover officers purchased counterfeit hats from the store twice.

No arrests were immediately made and the investigation is ongoing.
