NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Lifeway is preparing to move down Broadway and leave its longtime headquarters on Ninth Avenue North.
The current headquarters spans several blocks on Commerce Street, but the new headquarters will be closer to the Riverfront.
A spokesperson confirmed to News 2 that Lifeway is bidding to buy land from the Metro Development and Housing Agency on First Avenue South.
An MDHA committee will review the deal Wednesday and could sign off on it next week.
The new headquarters will be less than 20 percent the size of the current property, the spokesperson said
If the deal is approved, Lifeway wants to break ground this fall and move into the new headquarters in 2017.
Lifeway plans to keep its 1,100 person workforce downtown.
