Gunman accused of shooting man during argument in custody

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man accused of shooting another man during an argument last month at a Clarksville apartment has been arrested for aggravated assault.

The incident occurred at Summit Heights on June 22 around 7 p.m.

According to police, the victim was walking through the complex when he got into a verbal argument with four black men.

The victim stated the argument then turned physical and that a man identified as Vincent Merriweather pointed a handgun at him and shot him in the leg.

Merriweather, 23, faces charges of aggravated assault.
