NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The controversial DUI campaign led by the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO) has now been suspended.
And according to our sister station WATE in Knoxville, the Knoxville-based ad agency behind the work, The Tombras Group, is refunding the cost.
WATE also reports the GHSO says its contract with The Tombras Group will be up soon and a bidding process for a new contract will begin.
Any future campaigns with the Tombras Group will be thoroughly scrutinized.
The campaign in question caused quite a stir after allegations of sexism for the way it targets men and speaks of women.
It included distributing drink coasters to bars and restaurants around the state that said, “Buy a drink for a marginally good looking girl only to find out she’s chatty, clingy, and your boss’s daughter. If this sounds like something you would do, your judgment is impaired and so is your driving.”
