Driver ticketed after Music City Star collides with her vehicle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman has been ticketed after her vehicle collided with the Music City Star in June near Stewart’s Ferry Pike.

Police told News 2 the driver, 71-year-old Dorothy Johnson, reportedly drove around the training crossing gates at Stewarts Ferry and McCampbell Avenue and was struck by the Music City Star.

She has been ticketed with a railroad crossing violation.

Police said she claimed that the gates came down on her vehicle as she was crossing the tracks.  She tried to back up, but got stuck on the tracks and her vehicle was hit by the train, tearing the front end off of her vehicle.

She suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

The train was not damaged in the accident and none of the over 250 passengers were injured.
