NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville Public Library (NPL) announced Wednesday it lent out its five millionth item during their fiscal year that ended in June.
The library reported mystery and detective stories, as well as romance and thriller novels, were the most popular fiction books among adults.
Health and diet books, graphic novels, self-help books and cookbooks were the top non-fiction picks.
Last year, the library added almost 170,000 items to its physical collection and over 31,000 e-media items online.
NPL attributes their increase in use to e-media, free access to Wi-Fi and public computers, donor contributions and the Limitless Libraries program, which gives students the chance to order NPL resources from campuses across Nashville.
