NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro Parks approved plans Tuesday to purchase land for a new park in Davidson County.
A request to purchase 675 acres in Cane Ridge was granted by the commission.
The land will be used for two parks, one of which will be a large, regional park and another will be a smaller neighborhood park beside Cane Ridge Elementary School.
“We’re developing parks in various different parts of town and adding community centers as well so we’re really excited about the growth we’ve had the past few years and our plan for the future,” said Metro Parks director Tommy Lynch.
The move to develop a new park came after a 2010 study identified that southeastern Davidson County had very little park land compared to the rest of the county.
