NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested in downtown Nashville early Tuesday morning after police spotted him driving a stolen vehicle with a headlight out.
News 2 was at the scene when Jonathan Lewis was arrested on Third Avenue around 2:45 a.m.
Police said they first saw the van on Fesslers Lane and tried to stop Lewis, but he kept going and got onto Interstate 40 West.
Officers reportedly followed him until he began to exit onto Broadway but canceled the pursuit due to traffic downtown.
However, officers were able to keep the van in sight, following at slow speeds until Lewis pulled over on Third Avenue, police said.
The van was taken during a carjacking early Monday morning at Jefferson and 18th streets.
Lewis, 51, was charged with theft of property, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license and littering. His bond was set at $76,000.
