Harding Place fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Eighty firefighters and 22 engines responded to a two-alarm fire that broke out at an abandoned Nashville inn Tuesday night.

Authorities said the 7:20 p.m. fire at Harding Inn on Harding Place is “suspicious in nature” and they “are following several leads.”

Video sent to News 2 shows at least two people trapped on a balcony as flames roared nearby. The heavy smoke and flames were visible until the fire was extinguished a short time after it began.

Officials said while the building was abandoned people were living inside. Metro police actually responded to the inn just one day ago to look into the matter.

At least two people were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

According to the Public Information Officer for the Nashville Fire Department, five or six rooms of the abandoned inn were affected by the fire. There’s no word yet on the extent of the damage.

Further details were not immediately known.
